OPPO launched in Australia at the end of 2014 but it has been one of the world's largest smart phone brand. It's popularity is mostly due the fact that it offers bang for the buck.The Oppo range of smartphones offer premium functionality and features for half th eprice of the top-tier devices.

If you are considering OPPO but are confused here is an overview of their current smart phones.

OPPO R17 Pro

The R17 Pro is the first smartphone to use Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Oppo says it’s able to tolerate one-metre drops onto rough surfaces up to 15 times. Well that's quite a feat!

It is one of Oppo's latest high-end smart phones and is packed with amazing features like an in-screen fingerprint reader, a triple rear-facing camera and super fast charging with a two day battery life. It has a 6.4 inch 1080p+ display, a 6GB ram, 12 Gb storage and a eight-core Snapdragon 710 processor.

If you are looking for premium features the OPPO R17 Pro at $899 offers great value for money.

OPPO R17

Though it may look like the R17 Pro there are a few differences obviously. Priced at $699, you don't get the Super VOOC charging nor the rear camera. The processor is slower than the R17 Pro though the other features are pretty much similar.

Who is the R17 for?

If you want the look of the Pro and can do without the superfast charging and a slower processor then the R17 is a good bet. Though you do miss out on NFC and the camera is a slight step down.

OPPO R15 Pro

Want the look and feel of a shiny glass back $1000 upwards smart phone but at a lower cost? Well then this one is for you!  With a eight-core Snapdragon 660 processor, a 128GB expandable storage, a 6GB RAM, facial recognitipn, NFC and IP67 water resistance, the OPPO R15 is as good as they come. The camera quality isn't as great as the R17 or the R17 Pro, it is on par with Samsung Galaxy 8 and the iPhone 7.

Priced at $559, let's just say that the R15 is the R15 Pro's cheaper sibling. There a few differences but the rest is almost identical.

The key features are a 6.28 inch 1080p+ display, a 6GB RAM, eight-core Helio P60 processor, facial recognition and a two day battery life.

OPPO Find X

Find X is the closest any manufacturer has come to achieving an all-screen smartphone. There's no notch, and there's only the faintest hint of a chin at the bottom of the phone. Like Apple, OPPO has done away with the fingerprint reader in favour of facial recognition.

The OPPO Find X is a unique device with a one-of-a-kind design, backed up by top-end specs.It is however worth noting that the Find X isn't water resistant and doesn't have NFC. 

While the Find X is OPPO's most expensive device, it's still cheaper than top-tier devices from the likes of Apple and Samsung. Starting at $1,099, it does pack a punch!

The OPPO AX5 is a budget smartphone without the feel of a budget smartphone.

The OPPO AX5's key features include:

  • Snapdragon 450 processor
  • 64GB expandable storage
  • 4GB RAM
  • Facial Recognition

At $379 this is the better ones as far as smart phones go.

OPPO R11

After the R17 and R17 Pro, the R11 is cheaper than it was. Priced at $499 it has features you'd get in higher priced phones. You'd get facial recognition, a design light on bezel, an extra tall 18:9 display, eight-core Snapdragon 660 processor, 6 inch 1080p+ display, a 4GB RAM and a 2 day battery life.

Should you buy it?

If you're after a premium look and feel with decent features then you should consider the R11

OPPO R11 Plus

The OPPO R11 Plus is the bigger version of the OPPO R11s. While the phones are almost identical, you also get a higher capacity battery and an extra 2GB of RAM to go with the larger screen.

Want the flagship features at a budget price? Well at $300 this one gives you a taste of some of the latest features like facial recognition and a 'all screen' display. The camera and software is not the greatest but with a Eight-core MediaTek MT6763T processor and a 3Gb RAM, the A73 is as reliable as they come.
