Google Pixel 3A packs quite a punch for a budget phone. It has all the high-end features of a Samsung or iPhone at half the price. At AUD $ 649 the Pixel 3A is the best Android phone on the market.

To make Pixel 3a more affordable, Google has opted for a polycarbonate body, which makes the phone very light and compact. It measures 6 x 2.8 x 0.3 inches and weighs just 5.2 ounces.

Google Pixel 3ASpecifications

The Pixel 3a comes with a 5.6-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 1080*2220 resolution. Under the hood, it gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB non-expandable storage. It gets a 3,000-mAh battery, slightly bigger capacity than Pixel 3’s 2915 mAh. The 3,000 mAh battery has enough juice to last through the day.

The camera

Pixel 3a shares the flagship camera and performs more or less like Pixel 3. The Pixel 3a offers a single rear camera at 12.2 megapixels with a f/1.8 aperture, and it can do all sorts of tricks. That includes Night Sight, which allows you to capture great photos even in complete darkness, as well as bokeh Portrait Mode and Super Res Zoom, for digital zoom that’s comparable with optical.

Our verdict

We think budget buyers will flock to the Pixel 3a for its camera, but Google’s work on the software side of things shouldn’t be overlooked. Because even in this cheaper handset, Google has brought its best and most innovative features to the forefront.

The Pixel 3a launches with Android 9 Pie, though it already is eligible for the Android Q Beta and will receive the full release as soon as it launches for the public in late summer or early fall.

So, if it’s a full-feature phone that you’re looking for but at a pocket-friendly price, consider the Pixel 3A.
